Excellent description. I've seen them built with a piece of flatbar welded on edge under the boom with multiple holes in it. The "A" frame connect point on the boom could then be adjusted depending on what the objective was.

After I built mine I saw an Ebay seller that sells attachments and stuff. HE sells a "trailer mover" 3pt, then takes the same unit and adds the boom in place of the top link. Instant boom pole. So you sort of have a 2 piece system that can work together or separate. On mine I could also remove the boom pole and use just the 3t as a trailer mover. And will do this as I mentioned I think.

My home away from home
Rob - OK you've impressed me! I took a look at angelfire. You did the majority of all that in a years time -- I'm assuming just on weekends & vacation time -- I can't seem to get much of anything done per weekend so I've kinda put off doing much til I retire - 41 months (but who's counting) .... wish I were doing this move to the country 15 years ago as a younger fella ... things just take longer now than they used to. ....btw -- your kids will remember all this work too - be sure to get them involved. Mine will never forget all the brush dragging they did when they were 9-12 yrs old and we were clearing brush & trees to make a place for ourselves on my first 5 acres. That was 25 years ago - now I'm doing it again and they want to help the old man (reliving their childhood I guess) or ---- they're afraid I'll hurt myself doing hard labor at such an advanced age (57) 'course I now have tractor help:D

Thanks! I hop you like the pictures because I will see here and go through peoples pictures and stuff. Neat and interesting. I wonder how I did that myself sometimes. Framing up most of the garage solo. I did it in my teens as a job so I knew mostly what I was doing. Still things like packing up ply, then nailing is tough. I recall that was 15 minutes to do one. My son was to young to and to small to help much. I'm thinking I want to do it one more time. There is good return on building your own house. I have 20k in the house and garage. This doens't include all the furniture and stuff.

Thinking about my trip up there tonight!! Boom Pole in the truck!!

Rob

I'm leaving work at 12 -- headed up to inspect my new barn that I haven't seen yet and hopefully, happily pay the fella the final payment on it. Then it's off to San Antonio to a grandson's birthday. They've never lived close so we've missed most of his birthdays.---- framing--- I've done a bit as a hobby -- and know most of the "how to" but don't do as much of it as I used to - mostly helping others frame their houses - and discovered putting up my little well house last month that it's not as easy as it used to be. (I'm sure it's because they're making lumber heavier now than they used to:rolleyes: ) I also was alone - as in very - not a soul around for miles. Putting the roof structure on was the hardest - trying to hold a rafter with my right hand and using the nail gun in my left to fasten to the ridge - (I am definitely NOT ambi-dextrous) ---- I managed to put a nail in my hand -- drove about half the length of the nail into my lower finger thence into the palm and it hit nothing but fatty tissue and muscle - I could feel that as I pulled it out -- then got off the ladder and cussed a blue streak. I went into the hospital a few hours later for a tetanus shot. As long as I kept using it - it didn't stiffen up on me -- til the next day.:( Point is -- when you're out there working alone -- BE CAREFUL! stuff happens:eek:

This JD Imatch/ bobtach got repainted today. This is a Cat I quick hitch that can be put on the 3pt FEL bobtatch and a 3pt boom pole put on the FEL. It might be Spencer that first posted this idea on TBN. ?? not sure, but it is a great idea. When the boom pole is on it it can lift very high.

There is also a 2" reciever at the bottom of the boom pole between the lift pins. With the setup it is possible to pull a trailer with the boompole on the 3pt. It you back up and jachknife the trailer you can lift the load, then drive forward and set the load on the trailer without disconnecting the trailer.
To lift the boom tip I use the hydraulic top link, that some dont have YET. IMO it is a must have like a quick hitch.

Nice 3PH adapter. Did you make it? Or is it a purchased unit?
