Beside3s which, if you read up on kevlar you'd know it's entirely the wrong material to make a lace from. Shoot, might as well use bailing twyne as kevlar.

Wow, I've seen some mis-informed opinions posted before, but that one takes the cake.

Currently, Kevlar has many applications, ranging from bicycle tires and racing sails to body armor because of its high tensile strength-to-weight ratio; by this measure it is 5 times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis.[2] It is also used to make modern drumheads that withstand high impact. When used as a woven material, it is suitable for mooring lines and other underwater applications...

so any application that requires extremely high tensile strength and light weight, abrasion resistance, and immune to "rot" uses kevlar. From all the facts i can find, its a PERFECT material to make a lace from. after all you dont want high tensile strength, or light weight, or abrasion resistance, in your boot laces? sounds like you need to join the guy recommending Velcro tabs.
