3550 Fard Backhoe and a 1948 Farmall Cub,
Hi I havent posted many things here but i check out the site all the time. I do septic tank installation and genearal backhoe and dump truck work around my county. Im now building a portable boring machine to bore under houses and fences. and later im going to build one for roads. I make most of my auxilliary equipment to suit my needs or save money. I built my backhoes thumb, forks, well tile spreader bar, boring tool, asphault spreader, and also working on a decorative curb machine.
I gotta build a phase converter next to get my lathe goin. My big lathe is a 12,000 pound monster with a 30 inch swing. Best regaurds Taylor Lambert

Holy Moley!!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

My own li'l machinist lathe has a 6-inch swing, and I've worked on a 12-incher which was capable of some mighty serious work. What on earth do you do with a 30-inch swing? Make compact tractors out of a single piece of steel?

You realize, of course, that you absolutely have to show us pictures now. Heck, I'd just like to see what kind of building you have to even put that sucker in.

Hi Harv, I found it at a bargain lol I havent used it in my shop yet but did a few big jobs on it before i bought it. Dad and I had a 40x50 metal building built with 14 foot sides when we ownd rolloff trucks. But the lathes is already too small lol Id be content with a 6foot swing verticle lathe like tva uses. My brother borrowed a 690 JD excavator from work to pick it off the trailer and set it on the roller beds then we posistioned it with the 3000 Yanmar. I need to get a pro to wire in my phase converter I built the rotary unit. The lathe has a 15 horse motor on it so i asked a freind thats in maintenence about buying a used one off a rock screen. He came back a day later with a nice 25 horse free of charge. I used to have a picture of my freinds 3 inch swing Grizzly lathe chucked in mine. Ill try to round up some pics.

Hi Franz where abouts are you located lol i may decide to go for a drive lol. Im in northeast Mississippi. Ive made small 3 to 12 inch augers before but they take a good bit of hammering. Also one can use combine augers with rebar welded around the flights and a heavy pipe through the center with a new cutting edge. They doo well in most conditions. Best regaurds Taylor Lambert
