Bottom plow ,new use

Hello All,

Well I have let some areas go too long and having a Chinese Elm close by ,,,I end up with ions of sprouting volunteer elm trees all along an area that was one time a garden plot,,and a big flower bed area,
I'd like to have a stump digger,,outer attachment thing for the front of my little beast,,,but simply wouldnt use it enought to justify buying one.

Yesterday i decided to hitch on to my trusty Ferguson 2 bottom and work it around some of the 4-6 stumps. It is a slow process,,,but starting about a foot away from each stump and keep making passes back and forth,,and,,,going slow,,,this has worked out pretty well.
Eventually the bottoms will snag a few roots each pass,,and in time each stump ends up getting very wobblie then its time to do the 'take down' pass,and out comes the stump,,
This definatley isn't standard protocol for the plow but ,,hey it does work,
This is in good black dirt so the root system is very healthy,,on each of this sprouting volunteer trees.
But after thinking it over I should probably,, get some stump killer stuff,,,but I kinda like to 'go green' and not use chemicals any more than I absoultly have to.
I also thought,,,bottom line,,I probably should have went and rented a stump grinder for a day...but,,oh well

Careful you don't break those points! You can't get 'em anymore.

Years ago done the same but used a subsoiler instead. Just let it down a little more each pass and eventually out they came. These were 4-6" sweet gum stumps. Boy it sure did take a while but it worked. I now have a backhoe its a little faster. Hope you finish your project without tearing up that ferguson plow.
