BP Fick, That is some good lookin dirt you have there.
What is the yellow lookin stuff you have scattered out on top in that 3rd photo?

Chicken litter. It drives the whole deal. Without it? This sand wouldn't grow much. :)

Well Pa is famous for clay, and I'm no exception.
I purchased a MB last year for a small garden 55x25
It's certainly not as ideal as a BP, but it worked quite well (with a scut)
I turned over the sod last Oct. and let it lay until early April.
Turned it over twice more, disced and it looks darn good for a first year garden. It's easily as deep as most tillers will get you.

I wouldn't want to till an acre or more with it, but for small jobs, and about $150, it's a useful tool.

And it did create a lovely trench for potatoes.

In a way it is. But to break up a garden spot a turning plow would be better.
