Bought 2 gas golf carts

Well,

Finally made a deal on a couple of used golf carts for my daughters to play with on the property.

2 gas-powered Club Cars, 1994, 30day warranty, delivered, with tax for $2806. Seemed like a pretty good price. I've done some shopping around and after seeing the carts and riding around in them I thought it was a good deal.

I have been looking around for a used electric one and it seems like most of them are $1,900 used so two for that price seems like a deal to me.

Hey guys,

Yep, both carts for $2806 total. My daughter's have been riding them non-stop for two days now, they love em. Course the lawn is suffering a little bit of a beating. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif This summer my neighbor offered to help me lift them so I can add 10" wheels and some knobby tires. I priced two different dealers, both of them had electrics, 98ish, for $1500 each roughly, plus tax. Decided to go gas cause of the price difference and the fact the batteries would cost $400 to replace per cart. The dealer told one tank of gas (8 gallons) would run for 100 miles or ten hours. We'll see.

That does seem to be a great price. I have never priced them and was somehow under the impression that around $3K was more like it for one. It may be that I was hearing about the ones that were raised with ATV tires and a box on the back.

These were stock golf cars, tuned up, cleaned up and checked over. Just adding bigger 10" wheels and atv tires will add $500 to the cost of each. Dealer wants a $1000 to lift them. (Each) So the price can jump quickly. Some of the higher end ones he had sittin there were above 6 G's.

How well do golf carts do in the mud? Do they drive a single rear wheel? Or do they have some type locking differential or limited slip differential?
I play golf and have driven a lot of them but never paid much attention to traction. Considering one for chores around my property.

More than a few inches of mud and the golf carts can get stuck pretty easily. But after one month I'd have to say they've been perfect for my 8 and 11 year old daughters. Only had to fill the gas up once for each of them and their skills and experience are growing. I do want to get some seat belts installed though.

I bought a 94 Club Car 36V electric a few months back that we use around our 20 acres. Found that traction was a problem when it was wet and bought a set of tractor lugs for the rear from these folks for $89. No problem since.
