Well my new 3525 will be delivered today. First up mow the pasture. The grass is about 18" high. What gear to mow in and what pto speed? I have a 6ft mower. Any other things to look out for?

I am happy for you, hope you enjoy your 3525 as much as i do mine. On your tachometer there is a little sign to tell you how fast to run your pto, as for what gear to mow in i don't know. Don't be fooled by the 35 horse motor, that is a very heavy and powerful machine be careful and enjoy.

If your 3525 is brand new (read 0 hours), suggest you break it in by the book. I think it will tell you to not run the engine without load. I broke my 6000 in with a 7 ft rotary in 3-4 foot pasture grass. I kept it about 1500 rpm (2000 rpm is pto speed of 540) in 3rd gear (of 8 forward). I wanted to keep the engine under some load but not full revs it untill it had some break in hours on it. I varied the speed by 100 or so rpm up and down as I went. The 6000 has so much torque that I have never had to use this machine at over 1800 rpm for anything. I choose the right gear so it doesn't "lug". I cut now in 4th gear at about 1700-1800 rpm. Number one tip: secure the drawbar. You don't need it while mowing and it can and will shake lose and fall off. Don't ask me how I know this. Check all bolts after a few hours of operation especially the ones holding the sway link brackets to the axles. With a 6 ft mower and 18" grass your 3525 will not know there is an implement attached. Your 3525 is a fine tractor and the longer you have it the more you will like it.
