Well I pulled the trigger on a new box blade Friday afternoon, however I think the dealer made a mistake or intentionally screwed me over. The blade I bought was supposed to be a Woods BSM 72, I was in there about a month ago and was quoted a price of $1300 for that blade, I was told they keep that model in stock in the 72 and 84 size and could come back and purchase it whenever I liked. Well Friday I went down and bought the blade for a project I have at my mother's house. I told the salesman I want to buy one of your 72 inch BB's out front, he asked had I talked to anyone yet, I said a month ago I got prices on the 72 and 84 of 1300 and 1500, he sat at his desk and looked at pricing and said yes that is the correct price and proceeded to fill out the paperwork and sell me the blade. The mechanic loaded it on my trailer and away I went.

I got home after business hours and unloaded the blade, this is where the trouble started, the blade I was sold is not the BSM it is the BSS. I don't know if this is an honest mistake on their part like someone ordered in the wrong merchandise or if this is an intentional screw job, however honest mistake or not, that salesman should have known I was quoted a price for the BSM and not the BSS at 1300 dollars and either informed me they had the lighter weight blade and adjusted the price accordingly or told me I would have to wait for them to get the BSM in stock, either way I am mad as a wet hornet right now!!! I had planned to get this yard graded out and the driveway repaired over this weekend and now I cannot as I don't want to use this blade as I plan to see to it they take it back and get the proper one. At a minimum they are going to refund me the price difference between the models and I will sell it and buy the proper blade from a different vendor.

They also have these blades advertised on Tractorhouse and Fastline as BSM72's when if you click through the pictures of them you can see they are actually BSS, too bad I didn't see that before I made the purchase.

Your first mistake was not being specific enough when calling out the model you wanted to buy. Since you did not use it simply return it for a refund or swap for the proper model of your choice. Try to be pleasant but firm, try to give them the chance to make it right, if that doesn't work then get a refund and go else where.

I can tell you this much, I do all of my research on equipment before I approach a sellers business. I can hand the dealer a note with the specific model or part number in most cases with the options I want as noted. Saves a lot of grief and time. I can compare his price with others in an apples to apples comparison.

Good luck with it.

I second that

That is what I did when I got pricing a month ago, I went in there with a list of model numbers I was interested in, the standard duty blade was not on the list, I got the price quote for the correct blade and was told that is the blade they keep in stock. So when I went in to buy I had no reason to think I was getting something different. Also the 84 inch model they have IS a BSM. I have no idea why they have BSS in the 72 nor why they are advertising them online on 3 websites, one being their own corporate website, as BSM not BSS. That salesman should have known when I told him the quote I previously received that I was not quoted for the light duty model.

Seems to me he saw an opportunity to make a few hundred extra on something and took it, hoping I wouldn't notice the difference. If I wanted a 500lb class box blade I could have went to Fleet Farm and bought 2 King Cutters and still had a hundred bucks left over from what I paid for this blade.

Sorry to hear about the mix up & hope you get it straightened out without losing respect for the dealer.
Once it's gone, it's gone, and a good dealer is a terrible thing to waste. Give him a chance to make it right.

When my dealer gives me a price quote, he takes the time to do it in writing.
He writes down the exact model number, unit price, tax, etc.
Because he does this, I can show up with a check and my copy of the quote and leave with the item, even if he's not there, and there's no misunderstandings.

After you get things straightened out, I look forward to seeing some pictures of your new BSM and the results of using it!

The guy I got the quote from wrote it in his notebook along with my name, he was not in when I made the purchase. That shouldn't really matter, I was not quoted any special reduced pricing, that price was the normal rate for the quoted item, I was sold a lesser item at the same price. I will get it straightened out on Tuesday and if they are not willing to admit the mistake then I will never do business there again and I will know I was intentionally screwed over.

A month ago is a long time in a business, you should have again called out the specific model you wanted to buy when you came in last week. If it were me I would have walked out there and made sure the box blade on the lot was what I wanted to buy and pointed to it. Sorry you had this problem but that was your mistake. Did you get paper work on this blade and what was the description on it? If you drove home with the box blade before you knew it was the wrong one that tells me you didn't look at it before you left to verify it was the proper model you intended to buy.

I have made and continue to make a lot of mistakes. I have learned it is better to admit them as it is cheaper in the long run. I try not to repeat the same mistakes but it has happened.

Print out a copy of their ad showing the BSM 72 and that is what you were quoted on a month ago and take it with you. Mention they made a mistake and gave you a BSS instead of the BSM.

No I did not, I saw the BSM 84 laying in the pile with the 72s behind it the 84 was a BSM as I was told, I was assured that those 2 sizes of BSM are the only box blades they stock as it is the only ones they sell because nobody is willing to pay the extremely high prices of the heavy duty Gannons in the area. I am willing to take responsibility for not checking it out closer and assuming this is an honest dealership, however would you mind explaining to me how it is my mistake that they are advertising on 3 or possibly more websites a BSM blade when they are actually BSS, and how it is my fault that a salesman was dishonest enough to sell at lesser item at the higher price?

When I am quoted a price and given info from a dealer I have done business with in the past (on smaller purchases and parts) I don't feel the need to triple check everything, if they are in business they should be honest about how they do business or they will lose business. These blades are the same blades that were there a month ago, laying in the same place blocked in by the same other equipment around them, I had no reason to believe they were different from what I was told they normally stock. I do not believe the price for the light duty blade went up to 1300 dollars in the past 3 or 4 weeks.

Ya that is what I am going to do, I have all 3 sites printed out however they don't have the price on the sites just "call for price". But I am going to call and talk to the salesman I talked to a month ago who wrote down my info and verify the price with him then ask why I was sold a lighter duty blade on Friday for that price.
