Tractor
Massey Ferguson GC2300
Today is my first day of retirement and I bought myself a present - of course my wife had input for this also.

After being ignored by various tractor dealers in the Albany, NY area - I found Abele Tractor, a Massey Fergusen dealer, that wanted a sale and worked with me to make it happen. I am delighted, to say the least.

The new tractor gets delivered the middle of next week. I also ordered a rototiller for it (48 inch). That should be arriving in a couple of weeks. Next spring I'll get a 60" MMM and a post hole digger.

The next project is to build an addition to my small barn to store the tractor and implements in. In the interim - the Tahoe gets an extra coat of wax and lives outside.

Congratulations...I think you will be very happy. My little GC does everything I ask it to do and often way more than I expect. Did you get a loader with it? What tiller did you get?

What kind of projects do you plan to perform with it?

Good Luck on your new tractor. You have to watch ground clearance if you go off road over stumps, rocks, etc. I have the TLB model with no mower, and even though I'm carefull, I have a small ding in my hydraulic filter under machine, but newer GC2300's are suppose to have a guard mounted under filter to protect it. This is located on the rear axle on right side mounted horizontally. My neighbor had his broken by someone who borrowed his tractor [ GC2300] and ran it out of fluid. It was very expensive to get fixed. plowking

Since you asked: I plan to use the GC2300 for my garden (ordered the Massey 48" tiller) and loader work around the place for woods and brush clearing and leveling the lawn (about 2 acers). I'm getting on in years and the showel and yard trailer are too much for mulching - good work for the FEL.

I'll mount my snow plow blade on the FEL arms for the winter - no hydraulics, just the blade. Hope the tractor can do the hill as well as my Tahoe. There is a big weight difference (6000 lbs vs. ??). I did get the bar tires on it. The Tahoe only has regular tires on it - but never slipped or balked at plowing going up the hill, so I don't expect any problems. I never allow the snow to accumulate more than six inches before I plow. Sometimes have to plow a couple of times during a storm - but this makes for easier and faster plowing for me (my experience).

Next summer I may add a MMM for the wife to use when things are dry and not soft. Also a post hole drill.
