Bought a new toy this weekend

I had read at a number of sites that the Huskie HVT52 isn't all that it was cracked up to be. In contrast, I've read that the Eastman hover mower is heavily used by a large number of golf courses for mowing around bunkers and water. Does anyone own one? I would like to get some first hand info before I go poppin' some $800 for one and then find out it's a piece of c**p.

I am familiar with Flymo. I have one. Vintage 1979. My parents purchased it when I was about 12. That summer I didnt have to mow the yard. All my buddies in the neighborhood saw it and just had to try it out. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Anyway, I still have it and use it from time to time. Its great for mowing a ditch with water still in it. I get funny looks from people as they drive by. Anyway, mine is an original with a blade and is height adjustable. You just put a waher between the blade and the "turbine" to adjust the height. The breather tube is gone. I had a local shop make a setup that sits on the carb. It is a bit hard to start. I have to shoot a little Gumout in the air filter and then choke it and it will start. The carb wont stay in adjustment, but when its running right it is a treat to mow with. Enjoy your new toy. I still do after 26 years.

I found mine in an ad in the local paper. I always wanted one but, not for any reason other than I thought they were kinda cool. I'm still not sure what I should do with it.
