I built one for the trailer end with a 4 and 7 pin plug. It has a box with 6 switches, one for each function. It gets it power from a 20' long power lead with a cigarette lighter plug on the end.

For the truck end I made one with a 4 pin and 7 pin plug and a 20 foot lead running to a box with 6 lights labeled for each function.

I am working on trailers 2-3 days a week so it is a necessity for me, not overkill.

I can hand draw one but its simple to make.

For the truck side I went to Radio Shack and bought a Hobby Box and 6 press in green lights. I then bought a 7 pin round and 20 feet of wire. Wire up the 7 round and then drill a hole in the Hobby Box and bring the wire in and tire a knot. Hook the ground up to each light and then one of each of the other wires to the other lead on a light. Now label each function and you have a test box.

For the trailer end I again got a Hobby Box from Radio Shack and 5 switches. I put a short 2' long piece of wire on female end of the 7 pin round and then hook each wire up to a switch. I then got a 10' piece of wire with a male cigarette lighter end on it and brought it into the box for power. Hook all the grounds together and then the hot wire from the cigarette lighter plug to each switch on the other lug. Now label the switches. You can plug it into a truck or many times I use my jumper pack for power since it has a cigarette lighter plug.

Here is the pics I promised. I had to get back to the shop. Taken with the phone so not the best... On the trailer test box the light is just to simply see if the brake-away batter has voltage to light it up, nothing more.
