As a new tractor owner, I bought a quick hitch. I just added the bushings to the box blade and can't get it to seat properly in the hitch. At all three points, I'm bout 1.5" out of the seat. As a result, I can't lock the bottom pins in. Problem is with the top hook not dropping past a spot. Geesh, I bought this cuz I wanted to save 10 minutes here and there. I have used quick hitch successfully numerous times on mower. First time using the box blade. Do I just need a bigger hammer?! ;)

Quick solution - Pull the upper mount bolt and either put on a smaller bushing or leave the bushing out completely. Actual problem is probably that the upper hook is forged a little crooked or undersized and an angle grinder would fix it. I'm not sure what brand of quick hitch it is but this is a very common issue with the Harbor Freight versions.

Problem is typically with upper hook.... Distance from "U" shaped area in hook is to short to bolts securing it to frame..... A "extended" hook will usually solve that problem....

KennyG! Love the name. Thank you. I appreciate that. I was wondering if that upper bushing was necessary. I think that might do it. Seems I'm off by like an 1/8 of an inch. I'm not sure what brand the hitch is. I bought it with the tractor. I'll take a look when I get home and let you know.

Yep, I see that. Your arrows are on point. I see the frame hitting those bolts. Thanks for the link!

If the bolts are the problem I made a mod that replaces the bolts with flush pins. There's a post on here about it and I will add a link if I can find it.

Here's the latest. I tried a 3/8 pin just to see if box blade frame cleared the nut and bolt on the quick hitch. Good news, bad news. Good news is the frame cleared the bolts. Bad news, top part still didn't drop into the hook. Good news, dealer has new bushings for me. I'll give that a shot and then get creative. Perhaps the extension that @WranglerX suggested. So close, yet nothing! Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.

So, I swapped out the bushing. Got it all done, box blade is seating in the quick hitch. I didn't need to buy the extension for the top link hook. The quick hitch is Ironcraft. Thanks for the pointers!
