Box Scraper Box Blade or Rear Grader Blade?

I agree with buying good quality implements. Here is a light duty blade I was using to blade snow with. I caught a frozen down rock and bent the blade. The weight was added for ballest. ImageUploadedByTractorByNet1459090756.077586.jpg

Most I have talked to in person that were not satisfied with the rear blade had been using light blades.

Depending on the driveway I will use a heavy rear blade (1000LBS) or a grading scraper

Have to agree with this. I can't say that I have heard anyone with a rear blade that weighs in at or above 100lbs per foot width complain about it not working well. Just sort of how it typically is. I know that my first manual 8' rear blade weighed 680lbs and worked ok, but compared to my 9' 1140+lb rear blade, about the only fair comparison is that they are both rear blades.

Just my :2cents:

I maintain a shared access driveway and just used land plane to smooth winter ruts and dips.

I rented this one for $75/day - you might check rental places so you can test drive some of these - land plane vs box blade vs scraper.

I don't have a box blade but it is on my wish list and will be joining the horde of pulltoys.

Brian,

This attracted my attention. Got it working yet?

We used to have about an 8 foot one but it was only used for touch-up work on flood irrigated land. No roads to maintain. I'd like to hear your experience using it on your roads compared to the other implements.

Bruce, we have never used it. Got it with a bunch of other stuff and it sits where it sets for the last 12+ years. Honestly, with all the different implements that I have, there is no reason to spend any time fooling with that particular piece.

I've bought many implements for my tractors over the past 12 years. I've sold most of them but not the RatchetRake or the Box blade. I did have a rear blade on a B7800 30/31/32 HP Kubota and got rid of it pretty quick, not worth much to me with my needs and tractor. A 1000 lb blade would probably do a better job than the blade I had but not sure it would have worked well with the size tractor I had. I often see where people on TBN buy weight boxes but a boxblade will do the same job plus many other jobs. BB is a very useful implement and add a RatchetRake and maybe a tiller and some chain on forks.
Can spend lots of time here.Tractor Attachments - Quality Attachments for Sale Online - Everything Attachments
