Hi,
I recieved some literature in the mail yesterday on Woods/Gannon and Frontier brand of box blades.
The Gannons are extremely high, but I am sure they must be top of the line.
Prices:
Gannon:
Non-hydraulic ...HD 115 $2280
High backs HD 215 $2365
HD 315 $2420
HD 415 $2485
Hydraulic high backs
HD4265HB $2455
HD4272HB $2645
HD4276HB $2570
HD4280HB $2635
HD4284HB $2715

Frontier brand:
BB1165 $911
BB1172 $967
BB1184 $1139

Has anyone used or won a Gill box scraper made by Woods, how do they compare with a Woods or Gannon?

Thanks

I do not know what your needs are, but you those prices seem pretty high for how much most users will use a box blade. You can probably pick up a Monroe-Tufline or similar box blade for around $100 per foot. I paid $700 for my 7' Monroe-Tufline, and I have really beat the heck out of it, and it has never given me any problems.

Scott, I'm not sure how far you are from Milton WV (exit 28 on I-64) but Stratton Equipment has box blades there. I got a 48" one for around $325 (can't recall exactly). It's only got a Stratton label but is painted like the Land Prides.
I ain't used it yet but it's a box blade.

Scott,

As I mentioned in my reply to your other post, you really owe it to yourself to check out the First Choice box blades. I am getting my 400 lb. 48" 20 series box blade for $285 plus tax. They make them all the way up to 96" and 750 lb. That should do anything that you would want to do. The fit and finish is fantastic. Their new website is http://www.firstchoiceequipment.net/Box_Blades/Box_Blade_Choices.htm

Scott,

Do a search on Box Blades and I think you'll find some great pictures and testimonials from Gary in Indiana. He's gotten his First Choice Box and from everything he says it is as good as you can get and the prices are far better than the ones you posted. I have ordered one myself and am anxiously awaiting its arrival (still). /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

I am waiting on literature from 1st choice.

Scott, I think I gave you this before, but, here it is nonetheless. Click <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=implement&Number=163675&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=>here</A> to go to that thread.

Let me say first that I don't work for First Choice and have no particular vested interest in which brand you purchase. Further, I sincerely believe the Woods/Gannon monster is probably a truly outstanding piece of equipment if you're inclined to spend the money on one. I wasn't.

My goal was to find the best, most well-designed, well-constructed box blade I could at a price I could afford. I think I did that with the First Choice box blade. I have their "20" series 60" model which they refer to as "Light Duty." While by their standards it may well be the lightest duty blade they make, I don't foresee a need in this lifetime for anything any heavier. Mine weighs in at something under 500 lbs. and is solid as I could ever hope.

I'm sure you can buy better (even within their line), but I doubt you'll find a better buy. I feel I got Landpride or better quality at near a King Kutter/Howse price point and am elated with that combination. Good luck with whatever you decide. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary,
I have product literature on the way(snail mail)from 1st choice,I am not buying a Ganon, cannot justify that kind of dollars...I did like what I seen of 1st choice....eagerly awaiting for my product literature.

Scott, believe it or not, I actually bought mine 100% sight unseen over the telephone. My basis for the purchase was totally what I read here on TBN and subsequent correspondence with Pieter and Jim. I was impressed enough with them that I decided to give First Choice a shot and am very happy I did.

Funny thing is, I still haven't seen any literature. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Do you think I ought to call my selling dealer and complain? Of course, we've never met since I did all of our transaction over the phone and overnight mail. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I would never recommend buying an attachment this way to anyone else. I'm in a business in which buying large, big ticket used capital goods sight unseen over the telephone is commonplace so a new box blade wasn't anything that concerned me
