Well, I just got back from the dealer. We mounted up the GB48 on a bare bx. The machine was on a slight incline when I stepped back to look at it. It looked a little close (around 4" from the ground w 3ph fully up) but seemed like an ok fit. Put a foot on the back of the blade while I talked to the salesman and the front end came off the ground /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif!
Sometimes bigger is better doesn't work too well. I guess that I could have put front weights on to counterbalance the weight of the box but..............................
I ordered the Woods GBC48. Still weighs 335 lb., but has a lower capacity and hopefully a shallower box(more clearance and lower cg).
I agree with you regarding the Landpride unit. I called 4 different dealers locally and prices were higher than the Woods gb. From what I remember Landpride is a division of Great Plains Mfg. (?) so every Great plains dealer is a Landpride dealer. Those boys normally sell the big stuff, and don't seem to want to be bothered selling a little box blade.

Thanks everyone for your input. Its great to be able to bounce things off people when you're not sure of something.

Briarwood,

I've got a GB60 too, that I'm fortunate to be borrowing from work. It works great, just the hitch looks like a CAT 2. Does your GB60 have a category 2 hitch? I reversed the pins, and hope the narrow lower link seperation doesn't cause any unforseen problems.

I don't have any experience with box blades but I was sold on the Land Pride BB1548 for my Kubota B7610. That blade is built like a tank. Specs say it weight only 303lbs. A little on the light side compared to other blades, but I think it will work well for me. My dealer will be delivering mine soon and I will report back with performance.

My Land Pride BB1548 arrived yesterday. The unit is solidly built. Side plates are massive at 3/8 inches. The website says side plates are 3/16 inch but that is a mistake. I measured them myself and they are definitely 3/8 inch. I tried the blade out on an area that I removed stumps from during the summer of 2003. As you can imagine this was some rough terrain. The blade is doing a good job and is probably a perfect match for my B7610. the 54 or 60 inch blade probably would have been too big to work this rough area, especially with the shanks down. I am still learning how to use the tractor and blade. I have made some adjustments to the top link to reposition the cutting surface of the blade, will try this new setting out in the next day or so to see if it makes a difference. So far I can tell you that this Land Pride unit is very well built.
