I am going to buy a box blade and some have a hinged back blade and some have a two sided blade for forward and reverse pushing anyone have any pros and cons on either one???

I have an old 5' box blade that has both front and back blades solidly attached. It seems stronger that way to me. I've done some pretty heavy work (pulling rocks and stumps) and never bent it with a 45 hp tractor.

Currently I'm looking at buying a new 7' BB and can't find any medium or heavy duty units that don't have the swinging rear.

I have a small KingKutterXB Boxblade and it has been a great investment. It is tougher than a hinge one and it can do more. I was even able to make a camp area in the woods with it since my grandpa's 2210 johndeere doesnt have a bucket. I also have used it to till arenas, grade driveways, and clear land. It has been a great little implement and since it has a cutting edge on the front and the back, it is a boxblade/bulldozer. The picture was taken when the boxblade wa on my dads 3720 johndeere with 44 horsepower. The implement itself is reccomended for around 25 horsepower but my dads tractor made it feel a little to much even in 4 wheel drive.

Here are a few good threads for starters. :D Actually I am posting a link to a recent thread in which I gathered together a list of the best of the best threads about box blades.
Check out this thread.

The questions that you ask are not new questions. The debate about the hinged rear blade has a variety of opinions pro and con. In short because it is hinged it will allow the front blade to get a better bite when you want to dig in, but it is harder then to spread the material by lengthening the top link and having the BB riding on the rear blade.
