I finally got tired of doing my James Brown footwork imitations on my icy driveway and tried an experiment with my box blade. I was pretty impressed with the results:

In hindsight, I should really have left the driveway with just the scarified ice, it looked better as "raked" rather than backdragged and finished box bladed; but I am no longer slipping and sliding :).

Hey Jay, looks pretty darn good. Seeing the picures with the ice I could only think it must of been hard coming in and then going out must have been a real thrill!

It was a lot of fun to bust up that ice :D. It was over 1" thick. I was almost thinking of going back out, shortening my top link, dropping the scarifiers, and doing it all over again with just the scarifiers working to give everyone comparison photos; but "She Who Must Be Obeyed" would not be happy :(. Jay ;)

Nice ice clearing!

I've been using the toothbar on my bucket to bust up the ice. I just go up and down the driveway and make S shaped contours. It does not clear the ice but it just makes the surface rough so that there is adequate traction.

Snow came to early this year in mass an caught me unprepared. I have been using my box blade as a snow pusher and it does quite well. I still prefer my snow blower on my lawn tractor but this worked out great with the slushy snow rain mix and sudden temp drops this December

Timber:

Glad to hear from you again :D! I also use my box blade to push snow and snow piles. December's snow in MA caught a lot of people off guard. You should be getting
6" - 9" tonight into tomorrow morning with more snow late Tuesday/early Wednesday into Wednesday. Right now it looks like there will be more snow to deal with then.

Jay
