Yanmar ym2000
Hello everyone at TBN. Thanks to all for info. I want to buy a box scraper or blade for my ym2000. It has a small FEL and I have been useing it to back drag dirt and hual dirt for a building pad for a shop. I can get a king kutter 5' box with scarifers for $430 an andjustable 6' blade for $180. which whould be better for moving earth and leveling. does the tractor have enough power for the imps. I spin out with full scoop of dirt. probably need wieghts in back or on the wheels? Any help thanks

I would go with the box. And for the YM2000 I would go with a 5ft box. It will cover your wheel tracks nicely. A 6ft box fully loaded will have you spinning your wheels at times. If you do go with the blade then I would suggest a 6ft blade. For moving dirt and leveling the box is your best choice. The blade is more effective for grading. There will be times that you can drag about as much dirt in your box blade as you can carry in your loader bucket. The blade allows spillage out the sides.

As for weight, the box will be heavier than the blade and will give you a good deal of counter weight.

You are seeing, first hand, one of the drawbacks to using a FEL on a 2wd tractor. The other being loss of brakes when operating on a slope. I would recommend the 5' boxblade as I think it is a much more versatile tool than the adjustable blade. I guess it depends on the area of the country, but that seems like a lot of money for a 5' box. I paid $224 for a 5' A.T.L.A.S. (whoever heard of that?), in Georgia, and it's been a great blade.

That price should probably not be over $300 for just about any plain box/rippers. Yes, I know there are some that cost much more, but for that size, and quality, that price is too high. John

An added thought. The more weight you add to the rear. The easier it will stear. It will also add years to the front end parts as far as wear.

I'm a newbie with both the 24" scoop and a 5' box. The YM1700 handles both with ease. If you get a real full load in the scoop, she'll get light in the front end but Soundguy's front end weight's will fix that! The box blade is a fantastic tool and will be better when I get a lighter touch. She will spin a bit if you try to push or pull too much...just lift a skoosh and she'll get traction. The scoop is handy when the pile of dirt is a long way away. Steve

Thank You /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif again for the info guys. I was leaning toward the box but the difference in price had me concerned. I was worried /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif about the lack of rear weight and snapping off a front spindel.I guess a weekend project will be getting some weight on the tractor. I've got a 50 gal drum some scrape steel and lots of blue rock. do you guys think a removeable weight for the 3 pt. would be ok if so how much weight on the hitch. I called the locol tire shop to see about balast in the tires. about $75 a tire. It's startin to get expensive plus in the future I would like to get some kind of mower. Those rice tires can be preaty ruff on stuff probably more so with weight. Good Day to All and GOD Bless

Go with a box.. I considder it the swiss army knife of tractor implements... eclipsed only by a front end loader.

My 1700 pulls a 5' box fine.. your 2000 will too.

Box!!!!
pushes
pulls
moves
drags
rips
levels
and a fair countereight...all in one without changing the 3pt

If interested in changing to turfs see the following string about a way to do it and still keep your rice tires for real traction if needed. Or you you need some 22" rims just let me know!!!

Change to turfs
