Boy did we get snow!

This is why Paul has his tractor pimped out with all the creature comforts and safety features he can add to his rig, and still allow room inside the cab for himself to operate the tractor. I'm sure glad snow events like that are rare for us!

Wow , that's a nice healthy dose of the white stuff, I can see the smile on your face from here, lol.
DevilDog

Oh man is it that obvious

Sounds like a pretty good blast of weather! Glad you had that cab for sure.

The wind was so strong and the waves so high that it filled one part of the road with beach rocks and kelp. I had to cross that area to get to a customers place and I was actually nervous because if a rock hit the cab it would have taken out some glass. I could feel the tractor shake with all the wind. I'll make sure I include that in the video as well.

Heard you were getting the snow in your part of the country, hope everyone makes out ok.;) Here in southern Ontario it's rainy and 55F. We sure are having weird weather throughout Canada.:confused2:

For once the forecasters were right on with this. The winds were so bad we couldn't sleep all night. Thought the house was going to blow off the foundation  Like your weather, our weather is weird. I've never seen such high winds as often as I've seen in the last three years. One super store lost its roof due to this storm. One time we would see a tropical storm every three to four years. We seen 3 of them in 2012

We have had an open winter until now and in 24 hrs we have as much snow around as if it had come in oct .Three feet throughout most of the yard ,inside 4-5 rows of shelterbelt trees, five feet in some banks. I don't get a charge out of plowing snow it is too costly to enjoy it.

Ya it's strange. Although I love to get out and play in the tractor I don't like the way these storms are coming in with all the wind, power outages and property damage. I used to enjoy it when all we would get was powder snow. Those days are long gone unfortunately. Yep I understand what your saying. That's the way it is these days with snow and its accumulation.

Looking forward to a new "Snow Video" Paul. Stay safe up there:thumbsup:

Thanks man. Ya this vid will show just how bad it can get around here. I got some editing to do. Have to pick out the highlights so to speak. YouTube vids tend to be tough to upload when they get past the 10 minute mark. Wonder what most viewers like, would you rather view short videos of ten minutes or less or longer than ten minutes?

That is a lot of snow and wind. Where there power outages? Stay safe.

Oh ya. There were wide spread power outages. Some folks just don't cope well with this sort of thing anymore.
I was listening to the radio when I was out in the tractor and people were calling into the radio station talking about their situation. Everyone except one guy said they didn't know what they were going to do, nothing to eat, no way of warming food, some said they had no food. It was crazy but then this older gent called in. He said he just hit his 99th year on this earth and he was actually enjoying it. He didn't have any heat but was bundled up well. He wasn't cold, Had a way to boil water and told the lady on the radio he didn't need any help. He said he had it way worst than this during the war. Man he had my respect, God bless him.
On the other hand. There was another report on the news of a guy who had to have his early coffee so he headed out in the storm in his truck to get it. He went through the drive through in the middle of this terrible storm, got stuck, couldn't get out and had to wait it out inside the coffee shop until help arrived. Now get this. All he had on was his boxers and rubber boots  Can you imagine his embarrassment ?

Your Lucky

I enjoyed it :D

Ah Matt you know me to well my friend. I think of my tractor as a tailored suite. Made to fit my exact needs

Talk about taste of winter all at once..yikes.

9 hours felt like 1 hour...home away from home. ;)

Paul for those of us in the Southern US it is hard to imagine that much snow! Now we have had some hurricanes that have taught us more about wind than we wanted to know. The two mixed together is really something. The guy in his boxers and boots during a storm like that...what can I say.:confused3:

If you have time to put a short highlight video together I know some of us rural types with slow internet would appreciate it.

Looking forward to seeing your video, Paul. You sure are right about the winds, I was worried about losing more trees but got away lucky this time. The snow sure is HEAVY, I feel for anyone who has to dig out with a hand shovel. People must feel relief when they see you're tractor coming!

Bye the Lord Tunderin!!! You boys should be more gratious and share some of that with the rest of us!! Tell ya what.... give us half of what you got, say 30cm (that's 12" for you guys with old measuring sticks), and we can all be happy and play.
I don't get it.... Newfies are usually very generous people....

Too awesome Paul, I'm totally jealous of your seat time in the white stuff. That much snow here, would put me in the seat for at least 24-36 hrs. Those nights are tuff, but soooo fun. Enjoy pal. :cool2:

Having done the snow thing in life, there is an intense satisfaction after many hours in the cab and then relaxing inside later in the day around the woodstove. Same feeling also but working in the shop when you can barely get the doors open with all the snow to get inside. In a way, all that snow is a mixed blessing of sorts.
The good thing about a plow on the pickup is that you can take the dog along for the ride.
