I love that little video.

The grandson wanted to help me grill today. Then he disappeared and I sent his nine year old female cousin to find him. She drug him back, got squirted with a water hose, had to put a couple yard tools back together that he took apart, drug him out of a trailer when he tried to jump over the side, and finally announced she was going inside for a nap. She was tired of chasing him.

The three girls grands (9, 6, and 3) ate a hot dog apiece, a spoon full of macaroni and cheese, and a couple pieces of watermelon. The grandson (2-1/2) ate four hotdogs, no buns just meat, a fourth of a hamburger pattie, several cherry tomatoes, macaroni, and all the watermelon he could stuff in his mouth. The boy is an eating machine.

Once again it was a grand Sunday afternoon at our house with all four cousins reluctant to leave. The two youngest were getting tired and cranky and cried while being strapped into the appropriate vehicles. They all try to clean up their mess before they leave but it still takes us an hour or so to put everything back together.

I love Sunday afternoons.

We have a grandson then he was about 3 was obsessed with construction equipment and watched all the videos every day. I was doing small constructions jobs back then. Had a dozer, skid steer, backhoe , track hoe. All were small machines as I called it sand box excavating. He knew how to operate them. (Sometimes he would use the skid steer to haul a 50 gal. of water for Grandma to water her flowers.) Doing jobs that larger equipment couldn't get in to do or wasn't worth while. I had taken him to a equipment trade show. He was about 4 years, They had all the big stuff there, backhoes, track hoes, etc. Putting on demonstrations and the salesman allowing people to operate them. Looked around and seen all these people watching this track hoe work. I walked over to see what was going on and "Charlie" had climbed up in a big track hoe that someone had left the keys in and had started it and was really putting on a show. showing people how it worked. I about fainted. I gave him a very stern lecture about operating any equipment with adult supervision.

Boys are wired different. I live on an acreage that is mainly forest with a few paths through it. Every little boy under the age of 7(?) at some point will pick up a stick and hit trees with it.

My 5 yr old granddaughter was bored and decided it would be fun to roll a 55gal plastic barrel up and down the asphalt driveway.. it was good fun and was wearing her out.. until she got tired and went over the barrel and planted her face and shoulder on the asphalt.. she has some road rash on her shoulder still.. need to teach her to tuck and roll..

Like most kids born on a farm, I grew up on tractors, trucks and equipment. However I didn’t learn how to ride a bike until I was ten.....

Between my two grandpas, my dad, and me, there's 17 women and no other male blood relatives.... we all learned the magic of spending time in the garage "fixin stuff".

You forgot to add, staying under the radar. :D

You think he eats a lot now? Lol. Just wait for it. I can still remember my Dad complaining about us 2 teenage boys. He'd start swearing up a storm "I JUST BOUGHT $100 worth of groceries!!!" (that was a LOT of groceries in the 60's) Because he'd open the refrigerator on Monday, after going to town to get groceries on Sunday, and it would be mostly empty again.

Lol.

Every boy should grow up this way.

Just like every boy should have a dog.
