Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

RFD-TV is doing another John Deere special. Monday, March 21. I think it is at 7 or 8pm EST. I hope it is better than last time, but I'm not getting my hopes up. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

RFD-TV is a channel dedicated to the rural folk. They do have some interesting shows, but their last John Deere special left a lot to be desired. It is on Dish Network on channel 9409.

RFD-TV is "the first 24-hour television network dedicated to serving the needs and interests of rural America..."

It's channel 9409 on the Dish Network, which I'm too cheap to pay for, even though there's some good shows on there.

I only catch it when I'm at my inlaws, but they have some neat shows on old tractors, but they're almost always John Deeres... John Deere is one of the main sponsors on the network.

On the plus side, they air reruns of the Porter Wagoner Show!

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

I probably won't watch the infomercial but I do like RFD in general. I watched some antique tractor stuff that was great.

Oh well, maybe on this one they will give some useful general info.

Just a general FYI: For those who have Directv Satellite, RFD-TV is channel 379.

This John Deere special is a new show. I guess you could call it a sequal to the fiasco a few weeks ago. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

I wish they would start a "this old tractor " series. Showing maintenance and repair of tractors and farm equipment /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Heck I don't even have cable but if they started that series I would have to get a dish! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Timb,
Maybe we can produce it and sell it to them ?

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

Or "TBN - the television show", hosted by Muhammad. Special guest stars include such regulars Bird and Soundguy.
Next week's episode includes a visit to Junkman's garage! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know whether that would increase ratings or scare viewers away. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm thinking the FCC is trying to eliminate obscenity on TV.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

You would think that with today's technology and TBN's tech-savy-ness (?) that it would be easy to film 20 minutes a week about repairing an old tractor. Take the America's Funniest Videos show - hundreds of home videos that make it onto the screen... change that to be TBN'rs sending in clips of their last repair job.. it could be funny or helpful or both. For more human interest, I'd put in a few minutes on the location and a few minutes on the person (hopefully wearing their TBN hat). I'd also like to hear the tractor fired up and running - maybe a signature sound.

Sorry to get excited, but I think its something a lot of people would look forward to watching. And for someone like me, who has not spent a lot of time with his hands inside an engine, it would be motivational, would help to lower the barrier to buying an older tractor rther than sticking to a 'safer' newer tractor.

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

By the growing popularity of RFD-TV, and the ever-increasing number of "tractor shows", I'd say you and I aren't alone. I'd look for more "in-house productions" from RFD-TV on the same line as the John Deere specials. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Too many of us "tractor nuts" out there to ignore! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Could you imagine an Overhaulin type show on RFD-TV? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

There could be a serious repair show, a comedy version, mabye even one something like a "public access" show. The potential is unlimited. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There could be a show that demonstrated using equipment. (For instance, plowing....) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Tractor TV is a new arena! Someone has the potential to be the Andy Griffith Show of the tractor world!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Brace yourselves. They\'re doing it again.

I've never watched the show personally, but there is at least one show dedicated to old tractors. I don't know how large the audience is, but if you get RFD-TV they do seem to respond to questions and suggestions. I've found the shows on horse training to be very valuable - it's really a useful channel.
