Brake controller error

i still think it's corosion at the plug cause false signals, as the controller uses brake line power sense to ground to decide if a trailer is hooked up or not..

It almost seems like the controller thinks something is hooked up, but since there isn't, it gives an error. Thats why I posted this was to see if I hooked up to a trailer, if the error wouldn't go away. I need to just try it on a rainy day and see if I still get an error or not hooked up to my trailer, but its been crappy and cold with a lot of snow so I haven't tried it yet.

my bet is still on a coroded dirty plug or hte backside therof. corosion can pass wek volt signals that might be confusing the controller..

99/100 its bad/damaged/pinched wiring harness or corrosion on one of the 3 plugs at the plug in (the pigtail plug, adapter plug or the 7 pin socket)

Moisture and vibration cause intermittent faults. That model controller itself is solid state, quite reliable.

I have a Tekonsha prodigy brake control in my 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup and had the control not show anything on the screen, I contacted tekonsha on it and they told me to unplug it in the back and leave it for about 60 seconds and then plug it back in. This will reset the controler, and it fixed the problem on mine. Maybe if you try that it will work for yours.
