busted up New Holland TC 24D hydro :(, Replacment NH TC 24D!
Hello everyone, is it not true that life is always filled with adventure?

My wife has asked me to share this with all of you.

Without going into a long drawn out posting.

We should all assume that the parking brakes on our tractors would not always hold. And if that is so we should at very least chock one side of one wheel.

Otherwise the tractor can start rolling even on the slightest incline if the brakes fail.

Believe me I speak the truth.

Here are 2 examples of 2 different sized wheel chocks that we are testing at home and at work.

Not much room to mount them on a tractor but they are very lightweight. I will also add worth every penny!

Here is a link to some mission critical wheel chocks.

Larger version good for truck and tractors? They also make a larger one that we still need to test out.

Not disagreeing with you at all. I use my FEL to keep my tractor from rolling away, just drop it to the ground.

the one that is under your rear wheel. looks to be the same as the one's we use on our FL80 crew cab pumper at the firehall.... holds the fire truck just fine

Our older pumper at our FD has that type of chock. The newer trucks have a collapsable chock, same config but folds down to half that size for stowing.

Not a bad idea. I always try and park the tractor on a level spot with FEL lowered and 3pt implement the same.

Why would anyone need wheel chocks on a tractor anyway? Put the FEL on the ground and whatever you have on the TPH on the ground.

That's overkill.

What do I do when I park my little 8N with the bush trailer on it? No FEL...

Do you have a gear or HST Tranny? I all ways park on level ground, in gear and all attachments down (FEL/Grader blade)

I've had wheeled equipment roll right over wheel chocks. And if the ground is soft...it is as if it wasn't there. Ice is the only time I don't trust the above on a slope. Once I had to take an early flight out of the country. It was winter and icy. At 3:00AM I went out to get in my car. It was gone!? 100 ft down hill..agaist a tree was my car. My wife was a bit suprised to hear the chain saw at 3:00AM, but I made my flight

So for me, never park on a steap hill and all ways put her in gear
