I have to depress the clutch then apply the brakes to get it to stop. I have a dry-brake system on this tractor as far as i know. Old school Mahindra. I wanted to make sure this is normal before I go replacing the disc pads, anyone with a 5525 or similar can let me know their experience with the brake performance while in gear. This tractor only has 90+ hours so I would be surprised if the brakes were already shot, but you never know when buying used.

Same here. Not so much anymore as the newbieness is wearing off slowly. In fact I rarely set the parking brake anymore since it's parked on fairly level terrain. With the bucket down it's not really going anywhere.

That's normal for most tractors and it's how it should work. Many times on level ground you'll use the clutch like a brake, and only need the brake on occasion.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your brakes. My 4025 has the dry brakes also. I also agree that the loader bucket is the best parking brake, or should I say anchor.

Thanks for confirming that for me guys, really appreciate it.

My 1533 will not stop with break set in first or second. Not near same tractor but would think most tractors will over power breaks unless power is no longer going to wheels.

When I set the parking brake, I quite often forget that I did and I can still drive away, but I know it's still on immediately.
