O.K. boys, i got an overrunning clutch and put it on the other day. the tractor stops on a dime now. thanks for your help, i might have never figured it out. FYI the mower keeps spinning the tractor PTO shaft for 30 seconds after i get off. no wonder it was pushing the tractor and i couldn't stop. i got the overruning clutch (a.k.a. coupler) from the local JD Dealer. got 210 lbs of suitcase weights while i was at it. now it is like a different tractor. i think i could use more weight though. still a little light up front. i have a 4' JD rotary cutter (Frontier 1048) model on the back that weighs ア500 lbs.

how much weight are you guys using and what gear do you mow in?

also, i get some gouging from the cutter when going around corners. i googled it and it seems "check chains" are required from front of mower to rear of tractor. do any of you guys use check chains?

I think what you may need is a lower link stabilizer. One on each side which connects to holes you should have in you lower link arms and to mounting pins under the rear axle housing. They will help with the scraping when u turn. Here are a couple pictures. Not real clear but all I have right now. I put a little red square in the one photo around what I'm talking about.
