1st sorry to hear your new tractor is knocking.
My guess would be a spun rod bearing,
and the increased clearance on the rod journal is allowing a piston to actually strike the head.
Would have guessed a stuck injector- But the engine (sounds) like all cylinders are firing normally. Hard to tell listening to a recording Also because of no exhaust smoke.
A pic of the oil on a white rag or in the bottom of black bucket would help determine if there is actually bearing Babbitt in the oil. Grey oil doesn't sound normal.
Here's Hoping it is just a bad injector or bad lifter (assuming Hydraulic)
or rocker clearance adjuster backed off/came loose -and the oil is not full of bearing material.
Hope the dealer get's it fixed quick and correctly for you.

I’ve had air in the injectors before and that didn’t happen. I’m guessing the cylinder is hitting the head. I agree with don’t worry about it and let the dealer take care of it.

The plot thickens and we were all wrong.
There was some kind of metal FOD in one of the cylinders. It trashed the cylinder, head, valves, and piston.
Waiting on pictures now, Kubota is apparently sending someone up to investigate.
Also, they've already approved a new engine, so the shop is waiting on that.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pic and if it's a piece of one of the rings or something else. If it's something else, what on earth is it and why was it in the engine? The dealer said it looked like a piece of welding rod.
Sad, but now you know! S*^t Happens. Glad you got your answers and the replacement is happening.

I've heard stories on some products where a bit of something left over from the manufacturing process wasn't cleaned out. Maybe a milling shaving? Burr from a stamping?

Details are certainly an interesting topic to discuss. This can happen to any blue, orange, red, or green equipment. $h!t happens.
MAIN thing is our fellow TBN member is getting his new engine and while mfr has someone coming to look at the defect, hasn't held up the fix. :thumbsup:

I want to congratulate you on having a dealer who can pick up your tractor late morning one day and by first light the next day have removed the head, discovered the problem and have a new engine on order. !!! Post their name and give them some well-deserved recognition.
