Greetings. Wondering if anyone (LouNY, anybody?) could check their Shop Manual, Pg 2-151, and tell me if theirs states any particular number (e.g. .008", .030", whatever) to look for on the Dial Indicator once the plunger on the Inj./Pump stops moving (and Dial Indicator bezel is set to "0") as the crankshaft is moved in the counter-clockwise direction, then reversed to the clockwise direction until the "Injection timing" mark on the crank pulley aligns with the timing pointer on the gear cover?

OR, is this a number that will vary with different pumps? Para 4. of that page is a classic and reminds of so many other passages in MY copy of this manual I purchased on-line: "Rotate the crank pulley CW slowly until line up "---" (dashed line in my quotation marks as shown in the manual is an arrow pointing to the right that refers to the Timing Mark on the Gear Cover but I cannot duplicate this symbol on my keyboard) mark of gear case and "Injection timing" line using by sharp something of crank pulley."

I believe the correct interpretation of this sentence suggests making your own mark(s) on the crank pulley using a scribe or other sharp tool but for what purpose unless for some reason you'd want to scribe lines 1.05mm apart to show degrees BTDC & ATDC (seems most if not all vids I've watched on youtube direct you to move the crank pulley in the CW position to the TDC line on the pulley where it intersects with the arrow/mark on the gear case; so why the need to make your own marks?

One other thing on this page of the Manual: my assumption is the marks following the numbers and 'X's' in the second column of the chart inset into the pictorial of the timing mark & pointer on the gear case are 'degrees' but my pictorial is very fuzzy. Can't think of any other symbol that might fit here but could someone please verify?)

Thanks for this and any other light you might shed on this Injector Pump timing procedure on my Kukje 3 cyl A1500N2 engine.

Not going to be able to help much I don't think, they are very cryptic remarks.

The attached pdf is the somewhat relevant pages from my manual.
I couldn't even find an actual timing specification.
Does your pump have a data tag on it?
Have you checked closely for a scribed line on the engine dampner?
In this first image it almost looks like there may be a pointer under one bolt of the front cover.

Hi LouNY. My new pump does have a Data tag attached but most of what was written on it is illegible (almost looks like it got wet at some point in transit and some of the info "ran".) There are 3 timing marks on the dampener identified as "1, 2 & 3". #1 corresponds nicely with TDC of the #1 cylinder and so forth.

Assumption is Para 4 on Pg 2-151 is referring to the #1 mark IF there in fact are no other "Injection Timing" mark(s) made by the factory or by " . . . sharp something" . . . and no other actual timing specs are given in the book. Spent half of yesterday trying to rig up a jig to hold the Dial Indicator on the newly installed Inj. Pump. Finally tried using 2 stacks of some really powerful little magnets I picked up at Harbor Freight and a small bracket and it looks like it'll do the job. Thanks for your help, Lou!

p.s. Took a photo of the Data Tag and will provide it once I either get smart enough to figure out how to tx'fer it from my phone OR one of my grandkids visits and schools me. Meanwhile, here is what I think it says: F/Q: ? F/T: .3 I/Q: Not sure but looks like it might be 0.1 (10.1?) I.(Delta)Q: 0.6 G/Q: 14.0 P/Q & P/T are both blank. Last box looks like 'O' is the category that was measured then a '76' or a '7. in the Data field and then something undecipherable (but it could be the Korean Tech's signature . . .)

Do you know what the timing spec is for your engine?
Is it 2* btdc for example.
As I read the "chart" it looks to me like they are wanting you to measure from the TDC mark the appropriate distance to set your timing, using the 1.05 mm distance per degree as the distance from the tdc mark.
IE 2* BTDC would be 2.10 mm from the TDC mark.
