Branson 3510 Clutch Problems

I have a Branson 3510 purchased new in 2006. Have 583 hours on it and the clutch is slipping bad.
I have adjusted the clutch out all the way until there are no more threads.
My question is this: Should the clutch last less than 600 hours? Is this a common problem?
I have used the PTO extensively chipping and shredding however it appears to me the clutch should have lasted longer.

Is the main clutch slipping or the PTO clutch? There are 2 discs and pressure plates.
Were you chipping in 540 PTO RPM?

You could certainly wear out a clutch in 600 hours if it was out of adjustment. Did you ever adjust it before? Did you buy it new? Maybe it was too tight a pedal from new. What kind if use have you put it to? It does seem severe for wear.

Yes, bought it new. Chipping at 540 but don't see how that would matter if I chipped at higher RPM. Adjusted the clutch pedal several times, now to max threads.

Can you get any freeplay in the clutch. With the eengine off and pushing the clutch by hand their should be approx 3/4" - 1" freeplay before any resisiance is felt. The reason i say by hand is that it is much easier to feel the change in resistance with your hand than your foot. If no freeplay then something in wrong.

No free play and no adjustment left. Clutch will engage at idle speed but give any fuel it immediately slips

Are you adjusting it at the Turnbuckle located to the right of the peddle?
I just adjusted my 2005 3510 this morning for the first time at 280 hours.
I had to adjust the turnbuckle out because this is "Push Linkage". Some clutches have "Pull Linkage" .
I needed to adjust mine because I had too much free travel.
If you have no free play it is out too far.

Yes some, when working in tight quarters.

Finished the job, clutch feels as if it is two stages now. Different from before but works well

On my second clutch in 10 years. Mostly my own stupidity. Wrapped a snow chain around the axle. Is a clutch hard to replace? Thanks in advance for advice. Any instructions anywhere?
