Branson 6640C Tractor No forward or reverse

FYI. I was out brush hogging, finished the job and pulled up behind my trailer, shifted F/R selector and transmission to neutral. Prepared the trailer to load my tractor. Got back on the tractor and the tractor would not move forward or backward. Found the F/R switch had one side of the plastic fork on the switch was broken off. I was able to manually shift the switch to forward and load the tractor and manually shift to reverse to unload the tractor. Now why did the switch break? I found the probable cause was my wife's feet. She had been riding with me sitting on my "Buddy seat". Unknown to her or I, her feet was resting on the switch and when I shifted the F/R it was in a bind and broke the plastic fork.
I have it repaired and back in service. :laughing:Happy Tractoring.

The 6530C not as robust as yours but it is built like a tank as they say and smooth as butter but the clutch cable and the forward and reverse controls are a bit chincy, works OK and easy enough to fix. Nothing more than a nuisance. Also the air conditioner belt idler pulley was lawn mower grade, I notice they have improved that. Easy to fix, but just hoped that I did not run into any other things like that. 500 hundred hours and that is it. Oh yea the knob that holds the left mirror adjustment spun off and lost itself while brushing by too many tree limbs.

I was raised on tobacco/dairy farm. Farmall A was the perfect tractor for tobacco but would not handle all the haying and breaking plow work on the scale we operated. We needed a larger tractor and a small one but couldn't swing it. We got a used Huber about 1947, WWII continental 4 cyl engine, belt pulley on right hand side for powering a hammer mill. continued for several years using horses for the tobacco cultivation work. The Huber brakes were out at the wheel and you had to reach over and push down on it to stop or steer. The left one was too far for me to reach so I made mostly right turns at the age of 10. Had a hand clutch. The hand clutch steered my dad to John Deere model A comparable to Fameall M in 1950, I WAS 12 at the time. I grew up on Green but never got totally color oriented. I just like machinery. The Branson with the Cummins engine was another turn on. My trucks since 1994 are Cummins powered. The color did not matter. It is a great tractor. Love all those forward speeds, 24 plus those creeper add ons, and that 3 speed PTO is sorely missed on the Yanmar. But the Yanmar, yellow is a sweet machine also. I use it for all the close loader work because of the power reverser which does its thing with out operator clutch intervention.
