Good Afternoon All -

Another sticky wicket here....

I broke my front loader yesterday lifting out a stump with my Branson 4720H w/a BL25R FEL. I did this while lifting out a huge stump, then there was an unmistakable metallic 'clang'. I am not sure where the noise came from as the tractor was running at 2000rpm and I am little deaf.... :)
But what happened was easily seen.... I could lift/lower the front loader boom just fine, cannot curb the bucket up at all. Now if I lower the bucket to the ground and then slew the joystick like I want to curb the bucket, reverse and keep downward pressure on the bucket, I can get it leveled out. You HAVE to slew the joystick for curbing otherwise all it does is drag the bucket - it won't curb (or curl. When and where I grew up we called in curling....the Branson manual calls it curbing....).

This is a 2016 Branson 4720h with the standard front loader - BL25R. It also has the fender mounted joystick for all loader functions so it has cables running to the main loader valve assembly. Took the all housings off, the cables appear to be working as far as I can tell. All other FEL, 3pt functions, and 3rd function implements work properly..... Power steering and all gears work fine.

I called the dealership and they are telling me that the valve is not repairable. I'll have to order a new one...they are trying to find the part number! Anyone have that number?

On the front SCV valve (the loader control valve) it has on a plate this number: TA 00026056B Manufacturer: Daiho Hydraulics LTD, Turkey.

Any one got a guess?

Thanks!!!

I wouldn't think it was your valve.
Yes that valve is considered non repairable.
I would more suspect your curl cylinders.

I swapped the lines so that curb was now dump and dump is now curb.... Was able to curb the bucket just fine..... Tells me the valve is shot but I am always open to other thoughts. I'll run the test again, it only takes 30 minutes to hook everything back up - I'll give it a go in the morning....

Thanks!!

Outlaw,
On your directional valve do both spools move a similar distance in both directions from the spring center position?
Do they move freely and return to center or home position repeatedly?
Do you quick disconnects in the curl lines? If yes one of these could have potentially failed under pressure restricting flow in one direction.

Valves rarely completely fail but anything is possible.

On the Branson forum here there is a fellow goes by the handle of Asteral he may be able to get you a good number for that valve.
I suspect that the number you listed TA 00026056B is the part number.
Just be prepared Branson repair parts can be a bit high.
Also on the Branson forum is a thread with the manuals and such.

oldnslo -
Thanks for replying!
1) Yes - similar travel distance on the working spool and non-working spool.... On this valve/spool there are two in the same housing.
2) The valve, from the outside, seems to work as in the spools move as expected and center themselves as expected under what would be normal conditions.
3) Yes, there are quick disconnects on all four lines. I swapped the lines at the spool for the dump and curb function and the curb function then worked but the dump function did not. It does 'dump' but not under control of the spool. It drops at a slow rate and you can hold the bucket from dumpling so there is no pressure being supplied to that side of the cylinder when dumping....

Thanks for the reply!
I'll be calling the dealer back again this morning - they were trying to find the P/N. That TA number didn't cross to anything they had in 'the book'.
I know the parts cost are a little high on a Branson....but in this instance you can't run the tractor FEL w/o it....
I have a manual or at least p/o one but it doesn't have the P/N for that valve..... I've looked at the FEL manual and the tractor manual but will go look in the Branson forum, maybe there is one there that I don't have yet! Thanks!
I will look for Asteral on the forum and see if he can guide me to the right number.

Thanks everyone - I'll keep you posted.

What is being described leads me to suspect a failed quick connect as oldnslo mentioned. Flow is being restricted.

I don't see how.... So I've attached a drawing of how I see this working....excuse the crudeness of the drawing....

The hoses to the cylinder are color coded.... I swapped the curb and dump lines (blue and yellow) at the valve. In one config curb does not work but dump does. In the other config, curb works but dump doesn't....

Please explain to me where I have gone wrong here. Not being an a*** here - just looking to get educated. Last time I worked this kind of stuff I was in my teens and early twenties. Now I'm going in to my late 60's. :)

I do have a spare quick connect so once I get this put back together again and tried I'll swap it in on both sides one at a time and let y'all know what happens!!

Thanks!!

There is two quick connects for each port. A male and a female. When you swap the lines you are only testing one of the quick connects for each port. The other one is attached to your valve. This more than likely will be where your problem lies.

Put two new right out of the package on both sides (a set on each male/female) of the quick disconnects on the dump/curb lines - no go..... Plenty of dump - no curb......

Taking the lines and cylinders over to the dealership - a pain in the neck as no telling how long it will take them to test them.....

I'll update here as I get something to add.....
