Branson brand to be discontinued?

Around here, John Deere MADE dealers who were competitors consolidate, and basically made regional branch dealerships. I'm not sure what financial incentives were in play were behind the scenes, but I got the feeling that Deere "made them an offer they couldn't refuse". Around here they were long standing, successful, family owned businesses.

It will be interesting to see how they treat dealers who are within 30 miles of each other. If I was a TYM or Branson dealer, I'd be looking at Kioti, Yanmar or LS. If I was Kioti, Yanmar or LS, I'd be visiting those TYM and Branson dealers.

I'm not saying this is correct but what I did hear is t y m is the parent company of Branson and the parts are pretty much interchangeable including the engine is supposedly the same check it out for yourself and see if I'm correct or not???

TYM bought a part of Kukje way back in 2016. Till sometime last year, they were pretty much two separate companies. In August of 2021, TYM has completed the acquisition of Kukje Machinery.

While the TYM tractors may look similar and I'm sure some parts can be shared between both brands, the rest most likely won't work. TYM does build a heavy duty tractor, specially compared to the rest, however Branson is actually a step or two above them. I've compared a 35HP model of both brands side by side and the diferences are noticeable.

As far as TYM keeping both brands, I can't really see why that wouldn't work. There are some major European groups that have done this for years with success.

For instance, the Argo Tractors group is composed by Landini, Mccormick and Valpadana. Other example is the SDF group with Deutz Fahr, Same, Lamborghini and Hurlimann. Lastly the BCS group with the Pasquali, Ferrari and BCS brands. It's all the same tractors within each groups with simple change in color and stickers.

Maybe that's what will happen with TYM and Kukje? Ending up just making the same tractor with different stickers and paint. That would be good as far as parts go.

I'm not sure it makes economic sense to have 2 different tractor brands offering the same size, hp, features etc. Why maintain 2 separate company Administration, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Parts/Inventory systems? When the little fish gets swallowed up by the by the big fish, the little fish usually disappears.

I have a couple of each within an hour or two of our place. The TYM dealers both sell multiple brands. One has Kioti and the other LS and Zetor. The big Branson dealer is only that brand. The other also sells LS and Zetor.

Imho, small dealer groups are OK...maybe about 5-6 stores. Beyond that and they get too corporate. The JD around here are the same. A huge group that ate up competing dealers. Personally, I would like the big Branson dealer to run all 4, plus maybe another further north. As for the colors, imagine the Branson line with black trimmed in red and the TYM line in red trimmed in black. The two reds are close enough that it doesn't matter which one.

As a side note, the big Branson dealer had a bunch of tractors on the lot last Friday when we drove by. Our local Kubota dealer had maybe 6. One of the JD lots just off I30 also seemed to have a lot of inventory. (As did another further off the highway).

A few other examples of mergers - buyouts in the ag industry.

I don’t remember exact order on these mergers:
case IH , Steiger, Ford Fiat, Ford New Holland, Versatile for a while

Minneapolis Moline, Oliver, White now part of AGCO

AGCO how many brands have they absorbed?
Some are: White, Massey Ferguson, Allis Chalmers, Gleaner, Fendt, Heston, Challenger and many more

I remember people during the Case IH mergers saying if they paint IH orange I won’t buy one. Now you drive past the CIH plant in Racine, WI and there Red IH & Blue New Holland tractors on the lot I believe significantly more Red but still both.

Same with AGCO plant in Jackson, MN yellow Challenger, Green Fendt , etc.

not the first merger and usually you can still get parts for most models.

Let's not forget that Branson bailed on Century and Montana [who bailed on Farmtrac]
