I just got the new tractor a few weeks ago the book says not to fast or to slow or any steady speeds .Other people says hook to something and pull it like your going to run it .I guess after the 50hr of somewhat taking it easy i thougt i would hook it to something like a mower or bushhog and run it hard for a day or two .The thing is i use it on the road from job to job and i dont like to run it to much without some sort of load on the engine.Any tips?

My tip is a little self serving;) . Come on over and break it in on my place.

The way my DX29 hst is geared, driving up a hill or two at road speeds seems to put a pretty good load on it -- it won't pull my driveway in road gear. I'm going to guess driving it on the road hauling anything, unless you live in the flatlands, will work it hard enough for break-in.

Years ago ('83) when I bought my Ford 1300, dealer supposedly run it on some kind of PTO dyno for several hours for break-in. They told me to just use it after that. It was like a big water tank with baffles on a shaft that was spun by tractor pto.

I'm one of those who says run it pretty much like you're going to use it. Although, any piece of equipment you have to "listen" to it, "hear" it.....kinda like a woman....... :) You know when you're stressing it and you learn when to back off before she blows!!!! My point being, listen to your tractor and don't put it under any stress a tractor of its calibur shouldn't take. Other than that, drive her!!! You'll love your tractor, had mine 15 months now.

:) Sounds like they used your tractor to make homemade ice cream for the whole county! :)

My dealer hooks them up to a dyno and runs them hard.

Thanks for the info i just need some warm weather or some snow to put it to work.I like the idea of the dyno but im just going to take it easy on it for a couple of weeks.

Taking it easy on it is exactly the wrong approach. Run the crap out of it (within reason). If the coolant temp won't reach at least halfway up the scale, add cardboard in front of the radiator to help the operating temp. Low operating temps/light loads at break-in = poor piston ring seating which CAN lead to oil consumption and low compression.

use it like you normally would, but don't lug the engine.
