I have an update.

I drilled a few holes in the thinnest area of the tile and hit it with an 8lb sledge. 4 whacks and I had an opening.

Then I dug around it with the loader, drilled a few more holes and swung the big hammer some more. I was using a 1/2" bit that is 3" long. I quit drilling holes when I got into the thick stuff. But I kept swinging the sledge.

After 3 hours, a lot of heavy breathing and a few breaks, it is done!

We knew you could do it. If you had an 13 lb sledge, it would have been even easier. Good job.

I'm calling it $500, which I am guessing is about what the price would be to hire a hydraulic breaker on a skid-steer for 2 minutes work and shop to shop travel time.

It would have been good practice for a young man. Some of them have aiming troubles.

Mahooda - that is a good job but it looks like a lot of work. I think I would have looked for a 18 year old country boy and a 16 pound sledge.

I don't know anyone willing to do things like that. I have some relatives down south that can just go to the building center and hire a day worker. My small town has nothing like that.

I had to google Mahooda. Turns out, it is a surname, but only 5 people have it.
