Kubota L4300 DX
Hello All,

Just recieved a new (1/10th of an hour) L4300 with 6' rotary mower and 9" PHD. I was reading in the owners manual about the first 50 hour "break in" period. It said that the tractor should not be ran at full speed. I'm assuming that means the max engine RPM's. The max RPM's for this tractor is 2850. On the tach there is a line at 2200 that you set the throttle to for proper pto speed. I guess my question is this, can I run this tractor at 2200 RPM's during the break in? If not, what RPM's should I run? 2200 is a little more than 75% of full speed but the manual doesn't tell you what to run, just not full speed. What do y'all think?

I try not two idle mine for too long and only use enough rpm to keep the engine from lugging. I vary the rpm too. I guess its the high rpm that Kubota does not want you to use when new.

But, any engine breaks in better when worked. With class 8 trucks. I was always taught too work them from the start, but keep the revs at the torque peak for the first 2K and never idle the engine for very long when new.

But, who knows. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My stuff never burns much oil, maybe it works. But, I'm not one to "baby" new tractors for 50 hours either. I just don't work them real hard when new.

I've had alot of diesels. In all kinds of things. Tractors, trucks and generators.
Plain & simple, the best thing to do is work it like you stole it.
