Well, either Yogi or Boo-boo was by last night and smashed a bunch of my bird feeders up. Every couple of years this happens. I guess I will have to add more electric fence and bring my bird feeders in at night for a while. We are thick with black bears around here.

(Sigh):(

My friend has about 6 redbone hounds in an outdoor kennel -- funny he never seems to have a problem with his feeders:p.
Dont ya know you are only supposed to bait bears in the fall now in Ontario :eek:

I guess we're lucky here. Just the deer, turkey, and a racoon or two. I wouldn't like to have to worry about bears. There's been a couple seen in the area in the last few years, but I think they were just lost:D

I would want to have to bear with bears around here.

I would need to have a few beers to bear with the bears, and those are the bare facts.:D:D

I tried to fix it but it was to late to edit.

Ha ha ha

The infamous typo strikes again. Sort of like a modern day Zorro!

So far Br'er bear has not been back. I've been bringing all of the bird feeders in at night but I don't want to stop feeding the birds as we got a whack of snow today.

In couple of months the big boys will be around looking for girl friend...yikes.

you know last year we had a bear show up...
I spoke to the game warden and got told to leave it alone..and that it was protected..

after about 2 months-- and a lot of gun shots heard all over...
It just vanished...

Not sure exactly what happened but there are a few rumors--
BTW-- It was still around AFTER Bear season was over---

we will be sure to see him in a few weeks if he/she was just hibernating.

I know the one we had just did not do well with noise...
Once I drove the tractor by him-- he was in the brush and I drove by without seeing him. When I turned around to go back, I saw him...

funny I slammed the bucket into the ground as I was approaching his hiding place and boy did he run!!

Just be careful!!!

The bear has been back almost every day. This photo is of the field across the road but very close to our place. Last night he was in most of the backyards on our road and probably within 40 feet of 3 houses between 6:45 and 8:00 pm. Various folks have seen it practically every day very close to homes and during daylight.

Can't get closer for a photo, don't really want to. I hope it moves on soon.

There are SO MANY around lately, it's a bit worrisome.

WOW, he's a big fella isn't he? I'll say it again, I'm glad I don't have to worry about that here. Keep your distance. Do you worry about the dog getting after it?

That's what you need a pack of good hounds to run him out of the country, he wont take much of that before he moves on. Any bear hunter's or houndsmen up there in your neck of the woods?

you know on another thread there was a video about a BIG GUN..
it would be interesting to see if that gun was the right one for a good shot.....

I'm afraid that my bears may not come as close as typical because last fall I cut down their favorite crab-apple tree out front, and I'm clearing some of the cherry plum brush that they like. And then, just this Feb, I cut down the tree that some have used to get onto our roof. They never bother us and provide a good show, sometimes every day for about a month. But, without those favorite fruits, they may stay further away.

The bear has been back almost every day.

What a big guy!

Our bear that comes is maybe 6 ft stood up, yours looks bigger.
They don't do harm really.

But feeding birds, is the same as feeding bears. As you have been doing, bring in the bird feeders at night.

Get a dog, our German shepherd chases bears, the silly thing.

I've only had my feeder ripped apart once in the last few years but he did a good job of it. My place is just inside bear hunting country. You can hunt them on my side of the road but not across the street. I've never seen them during hunting season but we see tracks in the woods most every year.

I did startle one about 10 years ago in the blackberrys when I went to pick some.
