Brief Rant about Craftsman

/ Brief Rant about Craftsman #51
Craftsman isn't junk but it sure ain't Sanp On either. I can say I have probably broken well over a hundred Craftsman sockets over the years. Probably 25 or more of them were 15/16" 6PT 1/2dr impact sockets. They take a heck of a beating if your a heavy truck mechanic. Most all suspension components that bolt to the frame are 15/16" head. Can't say I have ever broken a Snap On or Mac Tools 15/16 impact before. There is a difference, you just have to use the tools to their limit to see it in many cases. If I had been a automotive mechanic I probably would be in the count them on one hand category also.

We all love the classic underdog story. The old guy with the beat up tools being a better mechanic. The new guy who who wants to know what he's doing, versus having a big fancy tool box. Where is my box of tissues... :) Which would you rather have work on your car. Lets face it...if Goober walked out and said Sazam, or Gollll-le, we'd probably keep going. :D You know the guy selling steaks out of his trunk are probably just fine to eat, but not many do it. :D You can have it both ways. I mean here we are talking about the guy with the old tool set being good, but yet everyone wants to buy a brand new tractor(except me...can't aford one) when good used tractor will work just as good, especially when the weekend warrior puts on a grueling 100 hours a year!! :D

I bought my Snap-On tools because 1) no credit and he offered it, and 2) they are good tools. If you pulled wrenches all day with the old style Craftsman they would chew your hands up compared to the smooth chrome Snap-on. Now everyone has a copy of the smooth chrome wrench set.

Since I bought my first set in 1977, and I still have them, not a bad investment. In 1984 my second snapon set was stolen, I replaced them with insurance money, still have that Snap-on set to!

Story time is over!! :D ;) :D
