Kubota BX 1500
I was wondering if any of you have ever used a Brillion seeder on a BX Kubota tractor, the rental place said it might be a little heavy for the tractor, (BX1500), not enough weight up front, if anybody out there has ever used this set up, drop me a line and tell me how it worked out for you. Thanks, Tony

How wide is the Brillion seeder? My initial reaction is that, yes, the Brillion is too heavy. Probably by several hundred pounds.
Brillion seeders work very well. In my opinion, seeders of its type produce the best stand of grass.

I rented a Brillion seeder from my tractor dealer to seed about 6 acres of lawn after we built our house. The one I rented was 60" wide and with a full load of seed it was plenty for my B2910 to handle. However it did a great job seeding my lawn. I went one direction then went at a 90 degree angle and basically covered everything twice. If you don't do that you will have little rows of grass that will take several years to spread out and fill in. I don't know of a better way to plant grass and have it come out looking like a golf course. My propane delivery man commented the other day that my grass looked like a field of green velvet.

It would depend on how wide the seeder is that you are going to get, but I don't think your tractor will handle a 60" wide model very well. I would assume that they make smaller ones, like a 48", that should work for you. You need to find out the weight of the seeder, how much seed it will hold, and how much that much seed weighs, then compare that to the lift capacity of your 3PH.
Good Luck. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
PS. The key to a good lawn, is proper preparation before you rent the seeder.

Here's their website: Brillion

The 6' Turfmaker Junior is 1200#, even the 4' model is nearly 900#. I'd say either model is too heavy for any of the BX's.

They have a pull behind type - Turfmaker II - that would probably work fine, but there's probably a low chance of finding one of these at a rental yard. You may have to consider renting a tractor with the seeder.

I have a 5' Brillion and when full of seed is about all my L3010 wants to handle. Used to use it on a B8200 and had to put ballast in the loader to keep the front down when I lifted (and the hydralics struggled a little with it too). I wouldn't try even a 4' on a BX.
