Re: Bring on the weeds \"Homemade Sprayer\"
( Yea it can be done either way, with a pressurized tank or a just the hose part, in either case you have to shut the pump down, and if you build your own and use a PTO powered pump, how would shutting the pressure off be accomplished other than by manually engaging and disengaging the PTO?

Huh???? I've never heard of a pressurized spray tank. Must be my ag background getting in the way again. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So your electric pump is actually an air pump??? How do you aggitate the chemicals? Can you adjust the pressure cut-out the pump will stop & start at?
A pto pump pumps the fluid, all the time - tank is vented & gets no pressure. You use a $15-25+ pressure regulator valve to set your pressure to the line. This regulator valve is real good at keeping a constant pressure. You can dial in any pressure you want, simple thumb-screw adjustment.
The overflow of this pressure valve is piped back into the tank, used as aggitation to keep the chemicals is suspension. Works very well.
I have to take a test every 3 years & must follow labels to the letter or I can be fined with mis-using the farm chemicals. You learn different chemicals need different droplet sizes to do their thing.
Couldn't possibly use a pressurized tank with it's variable pressure for my operation. Not to mention the tank would blow up. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
An example of many different real sprayer parts including the pressure relief valve would be at:
