Bringing Water to the Park

As some of you know, I'm in the early stages of building an RV Park. I bought the land because of it's location and the ability to access all utilities.

Today work begun on bringing in my water main.

To have enough water for what I'm building, I'm gonna go six inches. The main line on the other side of the highway is 12 inches, so the capacity is there.

At my end of the line I'll have a fire hydrant. Then it will turn into two 4 inch mains to feed the water demands of the Park.

Two weeks ago, a little over one hundred feet of 10 steel pipe was delivered. The next day it was welded into one length.

A few days later they delivered 700 feet of pipe along with all sorts of extras. Things like grease to conect them, valves for the six inch line and the 1 1/2 inch for my workshop and home. The bleeder valve to keep the water fresh, wire to find the pipe after it's burried, plus all sorts of other stuff.

So I'm working on my rafters on a my workshop and home when a stange truck pulls up. Some stranger saw the gate open and was curious about what's going on. I'm friendly and tell him about the park and we chat a little. This in normal East Texas behavior.

Anyway, I know the gate was locked, so somebody has opened it. I head out that way and see a convention of trucks and people all over the place.

Yippy, they started my road bore to bring in the water today.

You'd think they'd say something to me, but I've filled out the forms and paid the bill, so they don't need me for anything.

They got everything set up, took there measurements, and started drilling.

It was realy quite simple. They used allot more water then I expected, but it makes a huge diference.

The drilling machine was across the highway from my land. They wanted to feed the steel pipe in from my side bacause of the space available.

This is the hole they dug on my side.

They hit it just right!

Moving the pipe around was a job requireing their backhoe. It's a Case 580L 4X4. Nice machine.

Once the pipe was in the general area, they started digging a trench to fit it into the hole.

They also cut notches into then end of the pipe.

Eddie isn't it suprizing how much force is used to put that pipe thru? Here in our NC red clay I;ve seen a 1/2 cable break pulling pipe. Later, Nat

They are closeing off the end of the pipe. First notching it, then bending it over to form a bullet shape.

They welded it tight to keep the mud out from whole.

Not shown, but the next step, they welded on a piece of flat steel with a hole in it to attach to the end of the bit on the road boaring machine.
