Curious if anyone here has a Brinly planter and have a Covington plate TP527 (10 cell) to plant sweet corn, and how well it works. I have a Brinly plate OR20 but it spaces single seeds 11 inches apart. The 10 cell should drop every 6 inches. Closer if I could find a 16 tooth sprocket. I didn't get one with this one, and was barely used when I got it. I figure it was hung on a nail somewhere and forgotten about.
Looking on ebay I'm seeing where Georgia Eq. have sold over 100 of the TP527, and currently out of stock. Hoping someone has one, and wondering how well they do. Brinly did have a 12 cell #OR-13, but apparently like hen's teeth. I have a saved search on ebay in case one popped up in the last year but nothing so far.
I do have an OR-126 (16 cell) plate for popcorn and worked very well dropping a single kernel. I bought a new 2 cell pumpkin plate last year but disappointed it drops large 4 seeds per hill where we normally like to drop 2. Spacing was great, just too many seeds. Could grind it down so it will pick up less seeds, just hard for me to be grinding on a $50 plate just yet.
Also wondering if someone had a Brinly 16 tooth sprocket they'd care to part with or have a source for them. I've found 16 tooth sprockets but they are for #33 chain, not the #25 used on the planters. If I could find just a full sized pattern, I'd have a fellow laser cut me one.
I've called Brinly and Covington both on the sprocket, but no luck there.
