was useing my 20 Hp Nortrac tractor with the light duty Woods back blade , { Back Blade is only 1/8 } hit a root and it snaped the 1/2 thick bottom arm , on the left side of the 3 Point hitch , looks like some one cut it in half with a saw , what kinda junk steel are they makeing them out of ?

It happens, I have broke them before on a Ford, Long and a Taft and repaired them by welding a 1/4 or a 3/8 x 2" piece of flat bar what ever length I need, when I used the 1/4'" I put it on both sides. I have never been able to break them after that repair.

I am sorry for your damage. I have the Jinma brand 200LE. I have done a good bit of box blade work in sand and clay soil with a lot of roots. Many times I have been stopped on a dime or shorter. So far no damage, that I can see or feel. I am glad I have and use a seat belt. I found I can go in H2 about 1800RPM and drop the box blade. This puts a heavy jerk on the machinery but quickly loads the box, unless a root catches me.

Like walter said.. If ya got a welder, clean the break up, v-cut both sides and hit it with 1/8 6011 rod 100 amps or so each side.. grind smooth then put a tie plate over each side.. weld that on... should be good to go till the next weak part breaks ( other arm? )

I love the 5/32 7018 myself. 70,000 pounds per sq .inI use it on almost all my jobs

My guess is that if it is gonna break at 60k.. 70k won't be far behind it.
As for 7018.. I've got an ac only machine.. while I can get it in 7018ac.. plain ole 6011 is usually cheaper and bites nice and good.. even if there is paint or rust.. etc.
If I had a DC machine.. I imagine I'd be using alot of that 7018 though..
