Broken 300CX

I couldnt find just the cross bar and all it looks to be to me is a piece of 2inch pipe.

Correct...because the "Cross Bar" is an integral piece of the loader...factory welded there as an assembly...

#4 in the pic below - PN# AW32302 with an MSRP in the $1300.00 range...
The Decision to buy a new one or fix this one comes down to how good your welding shop treats you $$$$ wise...as previously mentioned, the only way to repair this would be to completely remove the old one...and put a brand new single piece of pipe in...

Yea, I can't see paying that kind of money for something I can fix on my own. Not to mention how long it would take to switch everything off the old loader and onto the new arms. I have the pipe and I will be doing the welding myself.

Can you run a heavy walled pipe inside of the existing pipe and weld it in place. Run the new pipe completetly across the length of the current pipe and weld the ends. Use a come-a-long to pull everything back together tight before you weld. Then you could also weld the broken part on the outside. Could also drill a few holes in the existing pipe and also weld the holes shut and fasten it more sercurely to the new pipe inside. It would probably be much stronger than the original.

The total length of the pipe is 111.5 centimetres and the distance between the insides of the arms is 96.5 centimetres (not counting the two oval reinforcement plates around the pipe ends). Best of luck with your welding.

i would torch out the old bar and weld the new one in. wouldn't be that hard of a job, if you have a mig welder it will be real easy to fill in the rough torch edges. have done stuff like that many times on implements around the farm, take your time and it will be as good as new!!!

Thanks for the mesurements.

Just weld it. That won't be that hard and if it breaks again, then get more serious. I am guessing that it will last a long time. Some thing like that breaks from going real fast and hitting something very solid (well head)!

For those of you scoring at home...

I just welding the break inside and out...lasted about 3 hours of work. This weekend things got a little more seriuse and i ground out the entire cross member and welded in a new 2" pipe in its place. Seems to be alot better, the real test will be tonight when i bring in 150 800# round bales.
