Broken Backhoe Subframe Repair

Were those 6 bolts all that held the backhoe on? I wouldn't have high hopes for repair. It was severely inadequate to start with. Even if you repair it stronger than new it will probably still break.

No, not at all. There is another bracket for the front of the subframe as well.

But the rear location is clearly doing most of the work

I wonder if it's time to sell the backhoe? You don't want to ruin your cast transaxle to be able to dig a hole.

I know what you are saying but the previous owner let a friend borrow the tractor, who didn't quite know what he was doing, and just put way too much stress on the tractor. I believe the reason this happened is isolated.

I don't believe so - I believe it was simply the weakest part and therefore broke off. The subframe is well-attached to the frame when all is well. Everything moves as one piece.

Especially when raised and driving (fast, bumpy or rough)

Looks like poor quality cast steel. In some of those pictures, you can see where there is spots in the cast that the metal didn't fill. You are really going to need to come up with a good repair plan and maybe modify the sub-frame to make it last again.

This thread just re-inforces my concern about mounting a backhoe on a CUT. Especially with what could be some questionable foreign castings.
