Wondering if this is a broken bolt or some kind of plug? Looks like a broken bolt in some ways but in other ways it looks like it couldn't be a bolt. One of the sides of what is left in the hole is flat....and there isn't any threads that I can see.

It leaks hydraulic fluid when the tractor is operating......I noticed it when I went to unhook my mower after I had been mowing.

I went to my local dealer but he wasn't in and I haven't been back yet.....thought I'd ask around here as an FYI for me and others.......

Thank You for any info..........

Not sure but looks like a bolt. Just because it doesn't have threads near the head portion doesn't mean its not a bolt. Some bolts are fully threaded and others are partially threaded. Is there a similar fastener on the opposite side of the pto that is not broken?

Kind of looks like a broken bolt to me to. Hopefully someone will come along that owns one and can look at theirs to see if there should be a bolt head there.

It doesn't appear to me as a bolt as the paint around the hole is not scratched or removed from a bolt head. It could be a alignment pin of some kind. Again, this is just another opinion as to what it may be. :)

Nope....there is not a matching one on the other side. The opposite side is completely different.

One of the things that keeps me from thinking it's a bolt...is the plate that is welded on just to the right of the hole....it is so close that there may not be room for a bolt. And like gotcha stated the paint around the hole truly has no scratches at all.

When I look at the "bolt" that is left in there it does sort of look like it has threads but can't see actual threads.....that flat spot is weird also......if it's an actual bolt it is one of the cleanest breaks I've ever seen.

Ahhh.....the mystery :D

It'll get solved one way or the other......thanks for the replies so far..... :O)

How much leakage ya got? a wider view would help in indentifying, but it doesn't look like it's broken ? Is the top even, with beveled edges, like a align-ment pin? gotchaman may be right.. but a big part of this, is why leaking:(

On the leakage.......it went from the middle of the window to below the low line.

I cleaned the immediate area and covered with a piece of duct tape. It didn't leak for a little while but when I had to use the tractor to move some dirt the tape didn't hold. It doesn't squirt out under pressure.......just a slow steady leak.

Yeah the top is flat with beveled edges.....those beveled edges are the size of threads and that is pretty much the only reason it looks like a bolt to me.

I know this will sound Funny but what if you put a cork or rubber stopper like in a wine bottle in the hole since there is no pressure? Or ask your dealer about it
Jim:)

Yep......I believe a rubber plug or cork would definitely keep it from leaking.

I will be going to local dealer here again pretty soon just haven't quite made it back yet.....just wanted to post my prob here for others that may have this prob happen to them. When I did go to the dealer he didn't have my model of tractor so he may not know right away either.....also trying to cover all my bases by posting here.... :)

I went back and looked at it with a different view and I came up with 2 different scenerios. First is, did this just happen as it is very clean verses the areas around it and the other is that the top of it appears to be a milled type of surface verses a broken something. The troubling part of it is, what has made it to start to leak. Vibration possibily??? :)
