Broken bucket tab on 300CX loader

I don't agree.

I was in the Deere shop a week ago, and someone had yanked out the rear end of their 4100 (by getting a running start with a big log chain and trying to jerk a huge stump out - I rode out with the trucker to deliver the repaired tractor and saw the stump with chain still attached), and it was repaired under warranty. Abuse, no question, but Deere made it right.
Now, should Deere have a recall on all these rear-end parts (will jack up the price on future tractors to pay for it) on all the 4100's because one failed? Or after two failed? If they learn to beef up the broken part for tractors coming off the line, and replace any that break in use, seems it can't be much more fair than that.
Not a perfect world, and I bet the Orange tractor mfg's don't do that either. But we can agree to disagree. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Recalls are for unsafe things like the ROPS recall even if one puts a non-Deere canopy on it. That is going beyond the call of duty, IMO. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have seen a good many mechanic lift up the front end with the bucket and crawl under a tractor to do some work, and you probably have too.Is this the right thing to do , of course not but it will always be done by some ,I have put my bucket in the air many times empty and washed the front as I am sure many others have also .I do think it is enough of a safety issue to replace these very obvious weak parts, it very well may be much less expensive than a very costly law suit down the road.
Just my humble opinion

Yes and send the crappy iron back to China where it belongs...

For the record, I have the skid steer carrier on mine and I have no fear of breaking it...

Maybe we should not have sent it over there in the 1st place or trained them better on how to use it..Could be a JD quality control issue also..

When the new 300 series loaders came out, I thought "shoot, I just bought the old 430 loader with my new 4310(which has also been discontinued). But I love this tractor and think this model will be one of JD's classics. (I still prefur its more squared off look) You know, I think I'll keep the old American/Canadian 430 loader.

Not to get off topic, but I wonder why I'm listed as a visitor, not a member.

Another update:

The mechanic only installed one side of the bracket when he came to the place. The service manager told him to do both, but he came back and said the other side wasn't broken. The service manager apologized for not being replaced and offered for them to come fix the other side, but I just took the part instead. He said to give them a call if I had any trouble getting it on.

This weekend I went to take off my bucket. The new bracket they installed doesn't allow the pin to be removed. I spent quite a bit of time with every tool I could think of to try and wedge the pin so I could pull out. Not happening. I wonder if a new shorter pin design is part of the bracket redesign. The bracket has a 3/4 high rib along the top and out side -- definitely stronger but it is preventing me from removing the pin. I can only guess the mechanic got it in with a hammer.

Time to call the dealer again...

Agreed. I've had very poor luck with Chinese aftermarket parts. We've seen China cast heads that leak from porosity, and China built injectors that don't thread in properly. I'm not saying all of China is bad, but the bad outnumbers the good in most cases...
