Broken PTO shaft on Farmi Winch -- Followup

I talked to my dealer about the PTO shaft braking and he felt they might of cut it too short. They replaced it for free. It's good to know that they are willing to admit problems.
I'll have to cut the new one to fit properly. Being stupid I didn't ask how to go about that. Any help appreciated. Do I cut the interior shaft, or the sleeve (exterior)? Thanks
