Wow, the fog around that question is thickening. As I see it now, the grade required depends on the dealer and the implement. So if you want a good piece of advice: call the manufacturer and ask for the right grade. At an engineering level they know exactly what's the load on the PTO and what should be the protection required (shear bolt) in case the blade hit something hard enough to give a shock on the PTO. I'll give a call to the manufacturer of my snowblower to be sure I put the right thing. My dealer told my grade 5 but as I see it, it could be something else.

My Bush Hog calls for a Grade 2 and the guys at the dealership said to use Grade 5.
