I'm getting ready to seed 7 acres to brome grass. I'm going to use seed oats for cover.

How much brome per acre?
How much seed oats per acre?

The land was a corn field. Its been 1 1/2 years since the corn was harvested. I am going to use my 56" rototiller to turn the soil. Its fairly soft now.

Should I till first, spread the seeds, then drag it?
Or could I spread the seeds then till about 1" deep to turn it in?

I would say till, seed, and then drag.

I agree with till, seed and drag. An even better solution would be till, cultipack, seed, cultipack. Of course this would depend on your access to a cultipacker. It's just best to not get that seed too deep. Your germination rate goes way up with a cultipacker.

Definately don't till after seeding. 1" is way too deep for grass seed. Very little would germinate.
