I too do most of my cutting, at least the first pass, in reverse and didn't have the vertical lift I wanted with a new/used mower, even with the hyd top link. The lower lift arm pin position seemed to be about halfway through the travel of the lift arms at ground level. Came up with a simple fix I thought you might want to see as I think you & luke may be "mowing" like me. More clearing & exploring for rocks to hit than mowing.
.......here in our rough and rocky landscapes! With the hydraulic toplink, I致e found I can raise the rear end up pretty high on larger trees, back into them, then lower the mower down slowly and mulch up an occasional 7 pine.
