I got a price from my local Woods dealer of $1350 for the BB72. $40 more to deliver it. Seems decent compared to the list price, but I was wondering what some of you may have paid recently for a similar unit. Maybe I can get him down a little bit more... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Also, can you post your tractor HP for comparison purposes. The dealer feels my 36HP is plenty for a 72"er... Thanks!

IMHO you're paying for the name, though Woods makes very good stuff. I have a Midwest 30 series 60", heavier duty than the bb72, even though it's not as wide. 85 hp gearbox and 900lbs, with front and rear chain guards, slip clutch. I paid $1040 from Carter and Carter, a good outfit. I have a 31 PTO hp machine and it has handled the cutter just fine.

A 60" finish mower(GM30-60) and a 60" rotary cutter(RC30-60) aren't a particularly good comparison for pricing. Two totally different machines for different purposes. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have a BB60 with a slip clutch. i paid $850. delivered.

I have a 32 hp kubota and it pulls it great. you might also think the wieght of the cutter. i opted for the standard over the medium due the wieght.

That seems like a **** good deal. As I understand it, the slip clutch is extra on the 60's; standard on the 72's. Seems that I could probably do better on the 72...

The slip clutch is extra ,i didnt want to have to deal with the shear bolts.
Now i bought mine when i bought the tractor so i may have gotten a little better deal.
Have you looked at rhinos? my uncle has one and it is heavy duty . i think he paid $2000 for his but it is indestructable. our smaller tractor couldnt handle his but they make a tw60 that looks pretty good.

Just purchased a Woods BB720 (medium duty) for $2300. Includes slip clutch, front and rear chain guards installed, and delivered 60 miles (between now and mid May). The BB72 is abut $900 less (around that figure) including chain guards. The BB72 looked nice and sturdy more so than some other standard duty models. I went for the BB720 to for the ruggness, lots of rocks around here.

The dealer and Woods info says BB720 minimum HP is 36 PTO. I have 39 HP PTO. I'm sure in wet and/or heavy grasses she may bog down and I will have to slow my mowing speed or take smaller bits. The dealer feels the HP being on the lower side WILL NOT be an issue 95% of the time. I kinda agree with him for my situation. My concern is the weight. I believe it is about #1200 and levered pretty far out. Mowing shouldn't be a problem becasue the mower is partially on the ground. Its during transport that concerns me. My dealer again says it shouldn't be an issue due to my loader. We'll see. He did say that I could return it After a few hours of use (with no abuse) and he would refund my money. Even if its not till July (grass doesn't start growing here till June /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif).

Hope this helps.

Hi Derek,

Your NH 2120 is one of the heftiest “small” utility tractors that’s classified a compact… /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The bulk weight of the 2120 along with the loader will help considerably on transporting the MD Woods 6’ brush hog… but I feel you’re very borderline using that combo in hilly terrain and perhaps underpowered on sustained cutting of brush/woody material… as it’s 138 CI Shibaura diesel is only 34 ½ PTO hp… not “39” as someone has lead you to believe… /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think that someone was me. I pretty sure that is what my manual says. But I may have read it wrong too, which is not unsual /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. The dealer is not a New Holland dealer so he told me right up front he does not know much about the NH2120. But he will let me give the unit back if it is to much for the 2120. For my situation most of my cutting will 2 to 3 times per year so the grass will not be as high as a single cut at the end of the growing season. Most of the time its going to be grasses with a rare small sapling.

I'm a little confused about the Woods specs. A BB72 minimum HP is 30. The BB720 minimum HP is 35. Is the difference of 5 HP because of more rotational mass and/or the overal weight of the cutter?
